I am delighted to announce that I have opened a new, permanent space on the Wellington waterfront. For the last few years I have been connecting collectors with artists, often through exhibitions in artists' studios. Joe Sheehan and I recently came up with an exhibition plan where we would show Joe's work in his studio. But with his looming residency at New York's prestigious Sculpture Space, and closing down his studio while he was away, we decided to find a suitable central city location.
Pop up spaces never work for fine art as they're not beautiful enough for a prestigious exhibition - particularly Joe Sheehan's first ever major Wellington show. Four weeks' work subsequently transformed the old Mojo cafe in the iconic former Overseas Passenger Terminal into a beautiful art space. Seeing the space come together, I fell in love with it, and it's perfectly placed between Te Papa and Oriental Bay. Long story short, I now own the space and am very excited to share upcoming projects with you.
