James Blackie is proud to present concurrent exhibitions of Dibble Studio and Paul Dibble.
Dibble Studio’s 'Rewilding' exhibition features a series of artworks using a city-scape left over from a reworked Paul Dibble sculpture from 2008. For the Dibble Studio team, this reimagining of an earlier sculpture perfectly fits the Studio’s intentions: a respectful celebration of legacy and an exciting new chapter as a creative entity. Elements including Kawakawa leaves, ferns and birds, explore a narrative of a city left behind that has been reborn as a new site for finding home. These references are reverential and talk about love, loss, healing, and devoted celebration.
Accordingly, we are proud to present concurrent exhibitions: Dibble Studio’s incredible new exhibition with the work of their founder, Paul Dibble, alongside.
Dibble Studio is a collaborative endeavour, comprising a small team creating sculptures in the studio of the late Paul Dibble and his wife Fran. Relaunched in 2025, the sculptures now being made by Dibble Studio include small studies based on existing Paul Dibble sculptures, larger scale versions of models made in the artist's lifetime, and works created from drawings not previously realised in sculptural form.
